Newsletter Sugestions

All Replies

Posted by Community Admin on 16-Feb-2011 00:00

Hi there

I know the newsletter is still beta. Just player around for 2 min so I might have missed some of the stuff I would like to see.

1) Title (Mr. Ms Option)
I want to adress the newlsetter receiver with Dear Mr. or Dear Ms. (in Germen Sehr geehrter Herr, Sehr geehrte Frau)
-> even the dear part is different in German

2) conditional statement - if Mr. then, if Ms and other fields as well

3) easy way to have asked for additional informatoin. Interested in, or how did you hear about us

4) easy way to make fields optional or mandatory

5) I rather have the textboxes and button invisible after signup vs. just having the green "you have been signed up

6) Possiblity to have two users with the same e-mail addres. Mr. and Ms. Doe want the newsletter but use the same address. A subscriber with given email is already subscribed to this list. (I do this with an OptCode to know which one is signing out.

7) easy way to export adresses so one can use 3rd party tools like supermailer.de which is btw a good reference point for this (tracking and everything)

Thats all what I can think of in this short time.

Hello Markus,

Thanks for the feedback.
We agree on all except point 6. I am not sure that many people share one e-mail address, and by definition, the e-mail has only. Perhaps we may solve this with a custom field, and value Mr/Mrs, if no name is set?

Kind regards,

Dear Georgi

Well 6 out of 7 is not so bad :-) I can live with that.

I have had numorous cases where people where sharing accounts (and yes I agree it does not make sense)

info@
family@
JohnAndJane@

Are just some examples.

Hi Markus,

I agree with the cases you provide as well. I hope that we will get into shape with the Newsletters module, so that we can think of such scenarios :).

Dear Georgi

After talking to an hoster it seems the some US sites like yahoo.com are very sensitiv about sending mails to multiple of their clients. Like if you have a wedding invetation and send it to 50 people with yahoo adresess it could be considered spam by yahoo.

So in order to avoid this (newsletter wise) there could be two solutions

a) if SF allows to send newsletters directly have an option to time them (1 per minute or so) and have the task run in the back

b) and/or have the option to have as special SMTP set up for sending bulk mail (localhost maybe goof for forma and password recovery) but there seem to be provider specialist in mailing large amount of mails (not spam) just larger amounts.

These are wild ideas so I don't know of any of them would make sence. If not it brings me down to 6 out of 9 which is still not bad :-)

Hello Markus,

I must say that both feature requests make sense. Actually, we are planning to have those, especially the one with the send interval - it's a must have. AS for the SMTPs, we will most probably have list of predefined SMTPs (like the Google one), which are free to use.
..8 out of 9 is not bad either :)

Will we have the ability for it to do analytic tracking of events?  Like a link in the newsletter would be coded to jump back to the site to set off a GA tracking event before it forwards over to the actual location (or something like that...)

Posted by Community Admin on 01-Mar-2011 00:00

Hi Steve,

Marketing analytics will be built in as well, together with A/B campaigns.

Can you please advise the status of being able to export subscribers/mailing lists to .csv or other for importing to other applications such as CRM?

Posted by Community Admin on 18-Aug-2011 00:00

Hi,

We have an option for importing subscribers from csv or excel, but do not support exporting yet.

Best wishes,

Any news on this items?

Also on timing the sending. Like one mail every 1 minute?

If you are looking forward to these improvments guess how we feel. The only difference is you can do something about it :-)

Have a nice weekend

Dear Georgi

Thank's for the agreement. How many of the points have made it to 5.1?

Am I missing something. Should I hope for 5.2 or a PITS entry?

Kind Regards Markus

Hi Markus,

Unfortunately we didn't add many of these features to the current iteration. The reason for that is that we've added, highly requested things mainly with the reports and A/B campaigns. We are looking forward in extending this module's functionality in the future.

Dear Georgi

Old post from 2 years ago. If I am not mistaken nothing has changed :-(

- Still no easy way to make Name Last name not an option
- No easy way to choose if you want first name and name at all
- No opt in
- No easy way to add extra fields like Mr. Ms. which later could be used
   Dear Mr. Berchtold for example
- Remove the textboxes on signup 5) original post
- If you choose Template lieke a web page  there seems to be not possiblity to add dynamic date (I might be blind again)
- It would be nice if the sendeing could be timed. Send one mail every 2 seconds
This for share hosting sending limitation and also if you have your own server yahoo might not like receiving to much mail from same IP in short time :-)

So 3 years have passed and I still think that I am missing some very important newsletter stuff. (unless I am blind again)

- Still no easy way to make Name Last name not an option
- No easy way to choose if you want first name and name at all
- No opt in

If these features are still missing I kindly ask to consider them for 7.1. How are we supposed to send newsletter to subscribers that did not opt-in. Or address them personaly in a newsletter when we can not make the Name field mendatory.

I sure hope I am just not seeing how to do this. And no if they are missing I do not want to programm such basic functuionallity into it myself or every project.

Dear Kaloyan

a) what shall I expect from you forwarding 3 year old ideas besides: not enough votes
b) what shall I expect from the link to the roadmap? Sould I expect to see any of the ideas on any roadmap soon or was that just to tell its not on 7.0 agende?

I do not understand how a highly apraised feature like Newsletters can work without opt-in function. But then again I am not too smart.

Hi Markus,

your valuable feedback is always greatly appreciated. I had a discussion  with our development team regarding all the mentioned functionalities. We are currently rearranging our priorities and  future plans about Email campaigns module. In the next couple of months (most probably two to three) there should be information available whether your desired functionalities will be included in the roadmap for the current year.

I am so proud at the moment.

How about the rest?

Like opt-in! Which is xxxxx standard!

@telerik

Maybe you could have another look at the beginning of this thread. Maybe some of the stuff can make it into another future version. 10.4 or so.

You have been after the big customers for quite some while. Give the small customers something to look forward to and the money for 8.2 worth it.
