New cookie compliance law and Sitefinity Analytics
Since the new cookie compliance law came in we have implemented a pop up that asks if the user is happy to accept cookies before we place an analytics cookie. However, it seems that 65% of our visitors are NOT accepting cookies, so our analytics show a huge decrease in site traffic. Has anyone else experienced this too? Are there any plans to implement alternatives in Sitefinity to cookie-based analytics? How are you working around this problem in the meantime?
Dear Robert
Look what www.mirror.co.uk does. They simply show a message on the bottom of the screen. I guess that's one way to work around it.

PS: I know I am not answering your direct question, sorry.
PS: Once again I am glad Switzerland is not in the EU
I don't know if the mirror website is compliant, it depends what cookies they are actually placing. As I understand it, under the new UK law, Google Analytics is classed as a Category 2 (performance) cookie, and is not essential for the functioning of the site, so cannot be classified as an exception. The civicuk site link that you posted works in a similar way to our own www.lg-legal.com - the user must explicitly accept cookies.
We are considering just placing the Analytics cookie and making a link in our cookies policy page to turn Google off. I am not completely sure this is compliant though, and so I am interested to know other Sitefinity users' experience of this..
We are currently developing a new sitefinity site as needing to put something in place for this as well.
Has anyone found a good 'plug-in' for sitefinity which is easy to setup but does what it needs to do i.e. block cookies if user doesnt agree?
The entire thing is a bit of a grey area, some companies are saying "By visiting this site, you comply" others are giving you the option to opt-out rather than opt-in. No-one really seems to know which is the correct or legal way of doing it.
