Restoring SF DB from Prod to Dev

In our development & production environments we have SF, we just did our first backup/restore from production to development(to get a fresh copy of what production looks like), and we're having some issues.  We can login to the SF backend, but when we click on Pages, Content, ... etc. we get a 404 popup message.  This happens repeatedly and the only way to stop it is to kill the browser(we're using IE 8, but we're having the same issue with Chrome & FF).

The database name is the same in dev & prod and all the connections from the application to the database seem to be working(we're able to login to SF backend).  I've looked through the .config files in App_Data/Sitefinity/Configuration folder, but nothing jumped out at me as being incorrect.
1. The connections string int he DataConfig.config looks good
2. The projectName in the ProjectConfig.config matches what I am seeing in the tables: sf_page_node, sf_object_data

We can get to the development web site, and there aren't any broken links there, so it's just the backend that's having problems.

I'm not sure what else to check.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Chris,

Can you run Firebug and check what comes up in the Net tab? Also can you login in the backend of the website and reproduce the errors - then attach the trace log  and send it to me so I can have a closer look at the service exceptions ( if the system caught any ).

Please consider reviewing the following forum thread.

I'm still working on the trace log for SF, it doesn't seem to want to want to output anything.

Can you provide me information on how SF builds out urls/pages?
Thanks.

Hi Chris,

Please send the service tracer log from the error. Most probably your machine - dev and production are not having the same configuration. It looks like there is some issue with the service. You can take a look at our installation and administration guide to see if all requirements are met and settings are correct.

Hi Ivan,
It turns out another developer(unbeknownst to me) installed some software on our dev server(url scan or something similiar) that was causing the problems with SF.  So it wasn't a SF issue.
Thanks for your help.
