Deploy with copying folder to the web server?

Hi,
I read the document of deploying sitefinity to web server. It mentioned to FTP all the files to the server.
I copied my files under the folder of user/myname, instead of wwwroot. I used the port number 8008 because there is another webapplication hosted using default port number. Anyway, I can view the page from the server, but I cannot view the page from my local machine. Could someone please help me?

I solve this by enabling the port number in firewall rules.
