Deployment Question from Dev Env to Production Env - Sitefinity - On Premise – Configurations & Setup

Hi.
Can you please advise the best practice to deploy the website in Sitefinity from Development Environment to Production Environment?
There should be "Publish" feature in Sitefinity. May I know how the "publish" works in mechanism? For example, any network ports required for publishing and any configuration required for firewall?
I have searched for this information in the Document section but not much information can be found.
Please provide some ideas.
