Can we seriously no longer select sub categories in widgets like documents list and news list??

Hello ZK,

Thank you for contacting us.
If I understand your question correclty my answer is no, this is not true. You can still filter items by tags or categories.
Tags and categories are not available in the Lists module.

Antoaneta,

You missed the "sub". I can pick a top level category but most of my categories have child categories, and I can't see a way to pick them.

Hi ZK,

Thank you for getting back to me. I successfully reproduced the problem. It seems this is a bug, the functionality is not removed.

I logged this issue in our public tracking system where you can follow its status. The item ID is 5990

I have also updated your Telerik points.

All the best,
Antoaneta

Is there any fix or hack or something we can do to get the feature back? Waiting weeks or months or however long to get this back isn't really an option.

Hello ZK,

I am sorry for the delayed reply. We were trying to find a solution and help you work with sub-categories until we fix the issue.

What I can suggest for the moment:

Go to the News widget for example, Select a parent category then go to Advanced> Select Categorized tab> Definitions>Control definition>Views>NewsFrontendList>Additional filter field.

Get the sub-category UrlPath ID and replace the one that is already there.

Please, let me know if this is not working and you need further assistance.

Kind Regards,

How are my users that are trying to create pages supposed to know the subcategory's UrlPath ID? Is there something in the UI that can show it to them? We can't get a DBA involved every time we want to add a widget to a page.

Hello ZK,

Thank you fo getting back to me.

I realize that the provided workaround cannot be used as a permanent solution. Please except my appologies for the incovenience caused. When we fix this issue users will be able to select sub-category through the interface.

We will be working to fix this issue as soon as possible.
