Still can't create custom widget templates in SP2??

I'm talking about the Document widget...it only allows you to edit the selected "type" from the widget designer.  Which is an amazing oversight as it limits my download layouts to a site-wide standard instead of like blogs (for example) who can be assigned any template you want per widget.

At the very least please allow me to set this in the advanced properties with a GUID or something...can this be done now somehow?

(I don't want to define external ascx views, I'm looking to teach these people on using the widget template editor)

Issue two...

Paging of the document lists affects every control on the entire page, not just the document list you clicked the pager on.

I WAS going to have a page with a series of downloads which pointed over to the same library, but each list contained documents in a different category.

...I have no idea what to do now

Seems that re-publishing the template without changing anything resolved that error
