Come on - how hard is it to see that this is not practical. And it has been reported so so many times and still is not fixed in 4.2

Upload images of from a nice car show.

Let's say

DSC_0001.jpg (Ford GT)
DSC_0002.jpg (Ford GT)
DSC_0003.jpg (Lincoln Navigator)
DSC_0004.jpg (Lincoln Navigator)

Now you dont like the titles so you start chaningn

DSC_0001.jpg becomes Ford GT
DSC_0002.jpg becomes Ford GT as well

Ups you have only one image with two entries because the URL was changes on both images to Ford GT.

You got to be so might careful. How about a warning. Trala: An image with this url already exists!

or

maybe have it semi user firendly url like   a5f4eb3b-bc9c-445d-a6bb-a191ed9fb49c/ford_gt

While we are at it here a sugestion

It would be nice if for each album a subfolder would be created in App_Data/Storage/FileSystem
since the images are not saved in an orginal filename it would be easier to see what is going on.
------------------
Question - the files are saved as binary files. When I add .jpg to the images I can view them normal.

a) could a replace an image, remove the .jpg and upload it again - would that work
b) what's the advantage of saving the stuff binary instead of native .jpg

Hello Markus,

Yes you are right the bug is still present. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Concerning the feature request. considering if you got albums with a lot of images this will not reflect changes to image names or deleting of images. Alternatively images can be viewed in the database table sf_media_content

a) Excuse me I am not sure i understand correctly your question. Can you explain a little more?
b) each image represents binary data and that is how we save it. There is no advantage over that since the images are still displayed.

Hello Markus,

The bug fix will not be included in the service pack. Fix will be provided in Q3 which will be released before the end of the year. Here is the related PITS item.
