Page with blog widget redirecting to homepage

Our news page which contains a blog widget is redirecting to our homepage. Why would this be happening? Is it a problem with permissions on blog posts, and if so, why would it affect the entire page?

So I opened up the page in the backend, clicked Publish, and it started working again. The page was already published and had been working up until this morning. Any ideas why this would happen, and is it likely to happen to any other pages?

Could it be that the issue has been a result of some caching issue (i.e. the authentication cookie persisted in the browser) - the blogpost control will initiate redirect action only when switching between view modes (List<->Detail), and it is not a default behavior to redirect the page it is located in to another page.
