Creating A Template From A Masterpage: Timeout Error

I'm trying to create a template from a masterpage. The creation hangs forever when I try to create it. If I give up and go back to the templates list, my new template is there, but locked by me. Attempting to open it to edit will give a full timeout.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Dear Cory
Can you tell us what version 4.4 SBE or so you are using. This informatin is always helpfull.
I had problems with masterpages before when they were based on itself.

Usually fiddler2.com gives a good idea what is happening in the background.

This is in Sitefinity 5.0. Is that what you mean by SBE?

Dear Cory

5.0 is good enough. Somtimes it helps to know if someone talks about standard edition (SE) or small business edition (SBE).

Did you check if the template after publishing when locked is based on itself.
Did you use fiddler2.com to see what is going on

Haven't got fiddler up and running yet, but it looks like it is based on itself.

Hi Markus, looks like that was exactly the problem.

I've been able to create a template successfully now.

Thanks for your help!

@Cory

Glad you could get it running.

Happy programming and using the best CMS in the world.
