Uploading documents (SF5 regression)

Hi,

The contributors working on one of our Sitefinity sites reported a new problem since our upgrade from Sitefinity 4.3 to Sitefinity 5.0 SP1.

They used to do this:
- Create a list item
- Within the list item HTML editor, they upload a document
- They choose a title ("My document") for this document ("this-is-my-file.pdf")

Result with SF 4.3:
Uploaded document title: "this-is-my-file"
Uploaded document URL name: "this-is-my-file.pdf"
Link text in list item: "My document"

Result with SF 5:
Uploaded document title: "My document" <--- changed
Uploaded document URL name: "my-document.pdf" <--- changed
Link text in list item: "My document"

This is a regression, and an annoying one for our contributors, as they often use the same link text for documents (like just "English version"). So this results in duplicate document titles as well as duplicate document URLs (which is something Sitefinity doesn't handle well).

Thanks for reading.

Updated with more accurate information. I didn't realize that the document title is also changed now, I thought only the URL name was affected.

This really upsets our contributors. Is there a quick fix for this?

Thanks.

This is what I was told when I opened a ticket about this issue:

"Hello Thomas ,we will investigate the issue and provide a fix for next official release Sitefinity 5.1. (this should be around mid july) Regressions are treated exclusively, so i will make sure this fix gets into the official release, thank you very much for pointing out the issue."

And guess what? It's not fixed in SF 5.1. Same story as every damn time. On the bright side, I'm not even disappointed, because that's what I came to expect from the Sitefinity team.

I'm not surprised.
