segments.new causing publishing and searching issues

Hello,

I have a 3.5 site that is having an intermitten error. It's hard to pin point when it occurs. There is a file 'segments' that is expected to be in the '...\App_Data\Search\Whole-Site\Index\'.

What is happening is that some how this 'segments' file is actually called 'segments.new'. When this file is '.new' instead of just 'segments', publishing and searching are broken. I have to go in manually rename the file and the issue resolves. Publishing begin to work and searching functions and updates.

What can be causing this file to be not renamed? The site folder has the proper permission of iis users and network service.

Hi,

That is a problem occuring in Sitefinity 3.5 SP1 fixed in sitefinity 3.6 where the index file remained locked by the site proccess during automatic reindexing.
