Unable to link to unpublished documents - Document Manager

It would be nice if it was possible to use the Document Manager within a Content Block to link to an already uploaded document in the library, even though it's not published.

This would be useful for example:
I have a page that I want to schedule for launch at midday, within this page there are links to PDFs  which I don't want available until 12, but to setup the page I need to link to the documents which don't show up in the Document Manager unless they are published. An option would be to show them if they are scheduled for publish or in draft.

Just a thought I had while working on a page today.

Hi Owain,

Thank you for the suggestion. However you could publish the document and link it. If for example you have a document list somewhere else in the site where all the documents are available you could filter the list to not display the undesired document and I believe this way you can achieve your scenario.

For example you have category1 set for all documents except the one (which is also published) that you do not want to be visible in the Document list widget. You are therefore filtering the widget to show documents of with category1. You can open the document and add category1 to it, but you schedule it for publishing with the page.

This way you can safely work on your page and link to the document, then schedule it (the page) for publish. In the mean time the document will not be visible anywhere else. Upon publishing time the process will be fully automated and you will not have to go edit the page nor the document - they will both appear properly.

All the best,
