Adding a new template is incredibly Slow

I was adding a new page, and made a new template, then tried to navigate to any page, and it took about 8 minutes 45 seconds to load.  Why is this? I'm using Sitefinity 5.4

The behaviour is indeed unusual, however, is it possible to provide us with a bit more details on your environment and your site so we can get a better understanding of what is happening? Is this the first time you experience such slow load times? Does the problem reproduce when adding and publishing other type of content?
