As per usual, when trying to upgrade my dev version of sitefinity to the latest version I am getting errors. One of these days I hope to get the site upgraded as easy as the instructions make it sound!

The error I am getting just now is shown when I try and browse the site locally via the Project Manager, either the front end or the admin panel.

The error is :

Type "Telerik.Sitefinity.Forums.Web.Config.ThreadsViewMasterElement, Telerik.Sitefinity.Forums" cannot be resolved. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.ArgumentException: Type "Telerik.Sitefinity.Forums.Web.Config.ThreadsViewMasterElement, Telerik.Sitefinity.Forums" cannot be resolved.

Looks like I am slowly fixing this one myself.
Quite a few of the DLL files havent either updated or copied in to the upgrade for some reason. Just copying the files from a fresh 6.0 project and hoping it will fix the problems.

Ok, copied the missing .dll files now now getting a new error:

Hello Owain,

The error seems to occur when trying to load the LibrariesConfig.config from your ~/App_Data/Sitefinity/Configuration folder. Could you check if this file exists and if it does, could you send it?

If the file is empty or just contains the xml definition with no xml elements, you could try making a backup and deleting it. Restart the application pool afterward.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance with this issue.

Kind regards,
Marin Atanasov

Same problem here from 5.4 -> 6.0

Here are the two files that have seemd to cause the error. After renaming them to .bak it seemed to work. But would like to have them back

Dear Marin

I upgraded my site without the two mentioned files. So what am I now about to do. If this an issue many could run into you should update www.sitefinity.com/.../upgrading-your-sitefinity-5.4-project-to-the-latest-version

To reflect this problem.

Add the line and upload it, or what?

I found that in most version 5.0 and up... If you hit rebuild instead of build... it kills some of the dlls.  I think I asked sitefinity why this happens but I don't recall the answer.  Simply keeping a fresh set of dlls handy and copying them over fixes it for me.  I would like to understand why but like most of you..no time.

Posted by Community Admin on 17-May-2013 00:00

@Eric

I have been using build only and if I remember correct this should have been fixed in 6.0

Markus

Posted by Community Admin on 17-May-2013 00:00

It didn't kill them all but I was short 6 dlls when I hit rebuild... hmmm.  (6.0)

Hi,
Just checked my installation and I don't have librariesConfig.contentViewControls.AlbumsBackend.views.AlbumsBackendInsert.config within my App_data folder and I can't find this file in any of my backups.

Owain.

Hello,

I upgraded my site without the two mentioned files. So what am I now about to do. If this an issue many could run into you should update www.sitefinity.com/.../upgrading-your-sitefinity-5.4-project-to-the-latest-version
It seems that your issues are different. You are the only one who has reported this error.

Add the line and upload it, or what?
Yes, fix the config file manually and see if this fixes the error.

It didn't kill them all but I was short 6 dlls when I hit rebuild... hmmm. (6.0)
Could you tell us which assemblies were deleted on rebuild? The assemblies should not be deleted on rebuild as long as you are referencing them in your SitefinityWebApp project. If they are not referenced, please try adding references and rebuilding again.

Just checked my installation and I don't have librariesConfig.contentViewControls.AlbumsBackend.views.AlbumsBackendInsert.config within my App_data folder and I can't find this file in any of my backups.
It seems that this issue is different that the one Markus was having. Could you please open a ticket and send us your project to investigate it?

Please let me know if I can be of further help.
