Revisioning in 6.1 revisions does not show different documen

Hello, 
Just curious, the impression I get from 'revisioning' is that I should be able to open/view documents from previous uploads. In the documents and files module, I create a library, then I upload an image (image showing number 1), then if I upload the second image (image showing number 2), I should have 1 url for the 2 documents. But if I change the version attribute in the embedded url (ie, change the value from 3 to 2, I should see my first image. 
The revisioning is a fabulous feature but this somehow isn't working. 

Ideas?
