I just upgraded from Sitefinity v. 7.0.5100 to 7.1.5200 and I ended up with this error message when attempting to click on the Pages link in the Dashboard:

I did a comparison between a brand new Sitefinity v. 7.1.5200 project and my upgraded project and they are virtually identical, however, I am still encountering this error message after the upgrade.

Please advise since this makes this potential upgrade completely out of the question if the issue cannot be resolved.

Thanks.

Hi Samir,

We have just faced the same issue when upgrading 6.1 to 7.1. Have you managed to find the resolution?

 Thanks

Posted by Community Admin on 17-Sep-2014 00:00

Hi Igor,

This error may occur in Sitefinity 7.1 5200 and is caused by the Recycle bin module. We have provided a fix for this issue in the first internal build (7.1.5201) as pointed out in the version notes

In order to fix the issue on your side I would suggest that you perform an upgrade to the latest available internal build (you can download it from your account from Products & Subscriptions -> Latest Internal Builds) in order to take advantage of this fix as well as of other fixes added since the official release of Sitefinity 7.1.5200.

Thanks Sabrie! That helped.

I just upgraded to Sitefinity v. 7.2.5300 and I am still encountering this error message.  I would think that this would be fixed by skipping the v. 7.1 upgrade and going directly to Sitefinity v. 7.2.5300 but I am still encountering this problem.

 Please advise.

Hi Samir,

I am sorry to hear that the issue has reproduced after upgrading to Sitefinity 7.2.

Please note that the fix for resolving the Recycle bin links has been included in the Sitefinity 7.2 version and you should not experience any issues when upgrading directly from Sitefinity 7.0 for example to Sitefinity 7.2. Can you please verify that you have followed the upgrade instructions as described in our documentation.

In addition to this, can you please provide details about the issue? When it is reproduced? In addition to this, please clear the content of ~/App_Data/Sitefinity/Logs folder, reproduce the issue and send the error log files to inspect what might be causing it.

Can you please also open the ~/App_Data/Sitefinity/Configuration/SystemConfig.config file and let me know if the version of the Recycle bin module is the version you have upgraded to (version 7.2.5300.0) in order to check if the module has been upgraded properly.

You may also go to the Sitefinity backend and navigate to Administration -> Modules and Services and make sure that the Recycle bin module is marked as active.

Yes, the Recycle Bin Module and the System.config look OK.

Hi Samir,

According to the error messages you have provided, it seems that Sitefinity is not able to load Newtonsoft.Json assembly version 6.0.2.16931. Can you please open the bin folder of your project and make sure that the version of the Newtonsoft.Json.dll file is 6.0.2.16931. If this is the version of the assembly file, you can add a binding redirect to your web.config file in order to resolve the issue. You may refer to the following article for more details on this.

If the above information does not help and you continue experiencing issues, I would suggest that you open a support thread where you can provide more information about the exact issue you are experiencing and when exactly it is reproduced in order to be able to inspect it in more details. Thank you for your kind understanding.
