Search and Index menu option disappeared

We previously had the 'Adminstration >> Search and Indexes' menu option, and it has disappeared. I need to re-index, but have no menu option!

I tried following those instructions, but the Search & Index option to uninstall did not seem to work. It was never uninstalled, therefore I could not re-install it. I did deactivate and re-activate, but that did not solve the issue.

BTW - I see another user followed those instructions, and no his site does not work - and he's had no response in almost 2 days!
