Backend user can't view frontend when licence limit reached

So we have a number of users who are backend users (as well as regualr users of our site). When we have reached out licence limit the backend users can't access the backend (which is expected). But these users can't access the frontend either?

Why is this? What's the deal? Very frustrating as this messes with our whole site setup. I don't want to have to give users 2 accounts just to be able to use front end of the site and backend.

Hello,

This is a license limitation. There is a Feature request logged:
http://feedback.telerik.com/Project/153/Feedback/Details/159256-change-the-limit-for-backend-users-in-case-browsing-the-frontend, where you can vote to increase its popularity. Note that most voted requests are developed with higher priority.

The workaround is the mentioned by you  - to have a separate user with no backend access, thus the license limitation will not be reached when backend access is not needed.
Another option, depending on the functionality and permissions you have, is to log-off the user and he/she can browse the frontend as anonymous one.

Well, that's disappointing. This is a real headache for our users having to remember 2 logins. We also have implemented a custom OAuth server, so they have to know how to log in from 2 different places with the frontend / backend as well.
