Does the new SF5.x mobile responsive design require SF layouts

For the new mobile stuff to work, should you be using Sitefinity's built-in column layouts?

In other words, if I have an existing website for which we built customized layouts (none using SF's built-in columns) would this work?

Jacques

Hello Jacques,

Apologies for the delay.

Yes, the Mobile add-on requires Sitefinity layouts. The feature is built around them. Sitefinity can distinguish them among the other page elements and the generated rules apply on. You can also use custom rules which can "play" with any page elements, but that's different story.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any further questions.

So for existing websites where you've done custom master pages (as would be the case in most projects) this module is pretty much useless to us?

I don't see anything in your documentation that would say any different?

Hi,

If the custom masterpages are based on the Sitefinity layouts, there won't be a problem. Otherwise, you should go with your own custom CSS rules.
