Move the location of form validator messages?

Hello
Is it possible to move the position of the validator messages in the forms module, e.g. move the message above the form field instead of below? Is there a template that can be changed/overridden?

IMO easiest solution would be a couple lines of jQuery to just move the elements (instead of changing every control template...if that's doable right now)

The validation messages should be hidden when the page loads so they wouldn't see any popping as the elements moved invisibly in the background.
