Custom monitoring provider for SF 4

Hi

I read in another  post for sifinity 3 that we where capable of building a custom monitor  in order to send emails to administration once errors occured  in the application.

My questions are: 
Is there something similar in SF 4 ?
Can we send an email to sommeone once an error ocurred in the sf aplication?

You can use Application_Error in global.asax to get the error and send an e-mail message.
