Hi

Is it ok to change the name of a Sitefinity 4 project?

Do I just need to change it in the folder name and projects.xml file? Or is there anywhere else to change it?

Thanks

Cheers
Richard

Hello Richard Cross,

That;s a tough one, unfortunately changing the project name is not recommended with sitefinity 4.x based projects. Aside form being displayed in Sitefinity backend, the project name is used as an identifier in formnig certain table names in the database, so changing it would result in an Invalid root node configuration error. Of course you can manually adjust the changes in the database, however this approach is not recommended.

Thanks Boyan

Ok, then am I right in saying that there is no real way to copy and paste pages from one project to another?

Thanks

Hello Richard Cross,

Not in the real sense of "copy->paste", however it's possible to achieve the desired functionality using the webservices - similar to the implementation of our Migration module.
