Problem with http and https

Hi,

I want my back office to be under https, but then, when you try to preview a page by clicking the "View" link in the back office, the link starts with https rather than http, regardless of whether the page is marked as "Require SSL" or not, making it so the link doesn't work.

Shouldn't Sitefinity generate the right preview links depending on whether the page requires SSL or not?

I tried to work around the problem by trying to make pages accessible through both http and https, but I couldn't get that to work Sitefinity. When the "Require SSL" check box is not checked, I can only access the page using http, and when it's checked, I can only access it using https.

Edit: previews link aside, I forgot to mention the most important thing: back office URLs that do not start with "Sitefinity" do not work, because I enabled https for the Sitefinity folder, and not for pages. For example, if you click a page to edit it, you go to an URL like "home/Action/Edit", which does not work because this page cannot be accessed using https.

Is what I'm trying to do (front: http, back: https) not a supported scenario?

Help? Thanks.

Hi Thomas,

Unfortunately you are right about your discoveries. HTTPS works unless you go to edin a page. There is a workaround for this if you create the page itself to require SSL.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Hi Lubomir,

Okay, thanks for the confirmation.
I guess we'll try having only the login page as HTTPS then, because my client doesn't want go for full HTTPS.

Hi Thomas
Could you achieve to set up the login page to use SSL?

My problem is that in order to serve HTTPS pages, additionally to set the "Require SSL" per page, the IIS must be configured to do so, and we can only set SSL for the entire back end folder (Sitefinity folder), making impossible to isolate which pages will use SSL or not. Same principle happens in the front end.

Does anyone has a better approach to handle SSL for specific pages on the back and front end...

Thanks a lot
