Virtual Directory Single Sign-on

We are trying to implement single sign-on with a virtual directory using the Forms authentication that comes with Sitefinity but every time we log in through sitefinity and redirect to the virtual directory it takes us to this page

/membercenter/Sitefinity/Licensing?ReturnUrl=%2fmembercenter%2flogin.aspx%3fReturnUrl%3d%252fmembercenter

And gives us a 401.2 "Access is denied" response.

Sitefinity seems to be overriding and redirecting the virtual directory to some kind of licensing page?

Any thoughts or ideas?
