Method to flatten a HierarchicalTaxon

Is there a method to flatten a HierarchicalTaxon?  Like I have the item, but want all it's parents too.

Does such a method already exist somewhere in the manager?  I'm not seeing it on the object so perhaps it doesn't exist or I don't have the proper using to expose an extension?

I would love to know the answer too, because right now I'm having to loop over the parents until I reach null.
