Extending the built-in modules

I've followed the subject-named blog post (here) to implement several custom actions on the Events module.  Thanks Sitefinity Team!

What I'd like to do now is "borrow" the Sitefinity loading "spinner" to display while my web service is doing it's business.  How can I access the spinner used in the Sitefinity backend?
