Email campaigns

Hi,
I created a new template to be used with an email campaign. The template has 1 header image and a some footer text, and I threw some text in between while creating the actual campaign.
I successfully received the email on one of the three people in the mailing list (this could be a server issue), but the email only showed a broken image (which could be because my sf server is not public) but it did not contain the footer text or anything else in the body of the email.
Is there a step that I am missing somewhere?
