Sharing for custom module

I've enabled the sharing buttons for my custom content per this article: www.sitefinity.com/.../configuring-custom-module-widgets.

However, nothing shows up.  Am I missing something?  Also, is there a way to add another button for a site not in the administration list?  I'd like to add Pinterest.
