Mapping a Lists template to an external file ?

Hi,

I am working with Lists content item and created a new widget template that is used by one Lists widget instance on one of the pages.
This widget template lives in the database and doesn't get deployed when I synchronize content from one instance of Sitefinity to another. ( with the Synchronisation module).

I haven't found a way to have the widget pull the template from an external template file instead of the database.

Or maybe there is an alternative approach ?
