Urls to posts in different blogs

I have a bit of a problem that I haven't been able to solve. I have three pages each with a sitefinity blog posts widget on it under a single group page. I also have a user control that I drop on various other pages (some under the same group page and some outside the group page) that lists the latest blog posts from these three blogs.

The problem I've run into is in the user control. When I create an anchor to go back to the blog post the url is incorrect if I'm on a page outside group page. The url is missing the group page name. But if I'm on a page under the same group page the url is correct.

I found a post here on the forums that discusses a similar problem but I get an "object reference not set" error on post.Parent.GetValue("DetailsPage") when building the url.
