Login control does not display image from url

Hello,
I've attempted to configure the login controls 'LoginButtonImageUrl' with 2 urls.
~/images/xxxx-site-images/btnloginup.png?sfvrsn=2" sfref="[images]2fe1b60f-5fc0-4b72-878d-6bbb0a123a7e
http://www.xxxx.com/images/eiki-site-images/btnloginup.png?sfvrsn=5
Both url's load when and display in my browser when I attempt to load the image from the browsers url, but it is not displaying while editing, previewing, or publishing.
Is there something else I need to set other then the url?
