RadListView ItemCommand not firing after item click

Im using the RadListView to display data and I need to add actions from some of the data for instance when a item is clicked it shows and loads a panel below. Now I can do this in regular asp.net but inside Sitefinity, I cannot get the event to fire. For some reason I just can't get the radlistview itemcommand to work. Has anyone else experienced this issue. Does the raised event get lost on postback because of the InitializeControls method?
