Sitefinity Multisite on Azure

We are looking at Sitefinity as our cms platform for a new enterprise level web portal and multiple websites.  It seems Sitefnity supports the Azure cloud hosting, but from what I have read (and most of the posts are about a year old) there seems to be some issues, and it can only be done with the pro or enterprise level licenses (which isn't a problem since that is what we need anyway).

Has anyone successfully deployed and are running a site on Sitefinity 5.x and what have you seen with the performance of Sitefinity on Azure.  Also, what is the deal with when Microsoft makes changes to their services or cloud set up, is Sitefinity supporting that?  I would hate to get everything set up, then have Microsoft update stuff, and then it breaks something within the site or within Sitefinity.

Hello,

Yes we support Windows Azure. The best way to deploy to Azure is to use Sitefinity Thunder. It will do all the things for you automatically. Right now Sitefinity works with Windows Azure SDK for .NET - October 2012 and you can download it from here:

Ivan,

I understand you support it, and I have spoken to my sales rep about it.  My real question is, are there specific examples of sitefinity customers running things within Azure.  Given it is a managed hosting environment, Microsoft has been know to make changes to that environment, and sometimes those changes can impact the applications and sites running in that environment.  I wanted to see what other people have experienced with running Sitefinity with Azure from a first hand and practical experience.  Do you know of any clients that have been doing it for a few months or longer?

Hello,

Thank you for writing us back. You don't have to worry if Microsoft change something in Windows Azure (they usually keep backward compatability) because if this happens we will release a fix immediately. Here are some of our clients that actually use azure in production
