Modifying designer fields for custom widget

I've created a custom widget using the create sitefinity widget with designer. it has 1 field (message) which i then added a second field. works good. i can load the value in the advanced tab of the designer and access it in the widget. but i just tried adding a couple more but they are not showing up in the advanced tab and it appears not to save.
the 5 files i modify are asdfDesigner.ascx & cs & js. also in the asdf.ascx & cs. i looked over the working fields and added in an extra line for the new fields at each point. but i think i'm leaving something out. any ideas?

Oh man, re-read my question, i didn't put in the main widget the get and set for the value. .... so.... make sure the value is also in the main widget! don't need to label it but main value
