Stop URL rewriter on serten path's

I am trying to deploy a ASP.NET Web API within Sitefinity. I see in the debugger that the route /api/Controller/Action gets registered, but when i go to a api controller action I get a 404 error.

I think it's the URL rewriter, or is it something else?
