Full Site SSL

How do we go about making the full site SSL...

Clearly I need to set each page to require SSL
       1) How can I enable that by default...changing the contentview createview doesn't seem to work
       2) How can I craft a custom sidebar filter for pages NOT set to SSL...
         www.sitefinity.com/.../filtering_dynamic_content_items_in_the_backend_grid_by_workflow_status
           Tried with RequireSsl = True as the filter and it had no effect
