How to develop custom field type for dynamic modules?

We have developed a custom field type. By adding it to the Custom Fields -> Field Types in the advanced settings (see screenshot), this custom field type can be selected, without any problems, when creating a new field for a News item (see screenshot).

However, we want this field type also to be available for a dynamic module content type. But it seems that the list of field types (see screenshot) that is available for a custom content type cannot be modified. It seems like this list is even hard coded in the underlying .ascx.

Someone has experience with this and have a workaround?

Currently, this option is not available for the dynamic modules. You should use some of the already defined field types and associated DB types, but you can choose a different selector for the field. However, could you please elaborate on what you want to achieve with this custom field type?
