Read Production site users from Stage site?

To resolve an issue we are having with syncing, Sitefinity Support has suggested using a second provider on my stage server to migrate my production users back to the stage server so we can copy the entire stage database over the production one again.

 Has anyone else done this? I'm having trouble figuring out how to tell my new provider which of the connection strings to use.

Just be aware that if you are using Forms, the submissions in production are not on Staging so you will lose those !...!

Thanks for the reminder about forms. We are still working on setting those up but I'll have to handle those as well once they are running.
