How do you update a sitefinity thunder custom module?

I've made a sitefinity custom module using thunder, and installed it into my website (activated). When I try changing the code in visual studio, and rebuild, there appears to be no changes. I've tried deactivating and reactivating, uninstalling and reinstalling, as well as increasing the version number in app.config. How come my changes aren't being recognized?
