Backend function to open dynamic item in edit mode

Hi,

we are trying to implement a backend widget similar to the recent items widget, but with custom UI, list, filtering and ordering;

The only problem we have, is to open up the edit window when click on the item's name; as in the recent items widget do, where there is 

<a data-bind="click: openItemInBackend"...

that open up the window.

So we wonder if there is a simply way or a sample in order to achieve the desired functionality.
