Default content for content block

Is there a way to specify default content for a content block? The user wants to have some default content display the first time they add a content block so that they can modify and make changes to it. I thought about using shared content but I'm afraid they would then edit that content and change other portions of the site.

I am using the MVC content block widget if that helps.
