How to get current logged in user from client side using jqu

I know that we can get current logged in user from backend  c#code but  I want it using  jquery in client side using JavaScript widget. Is there any option to do that? I tried to create a web service but there is no such option to get user profile.

Any help on this is highly appreciated.
