Content editing and mac users

Hello.

We are going to start evaluating severals CMSs (Sitefinity included) and one of the requirements from our Communications Office is that Mac users be able to update/edit content from their macs without running Windows (Bootcamp, VMWare or the like).

Mac users only need to update/edit content; not create new projets or websites.

Will this be possible with Sitefinity 4?

Hello gregory hernandez,

Thank you for your interest in Sitefinity.

As Sitefinity websites are web applications it is required that the website itself is hosted in an environment which supports it. For the end-user it does not matter what environment he/she is using as long as the user uses one of the supported browsers. We are aiming for support of all major browsers - IE, Safari, Chrome, and FireFox. This means that your mac users should not have any problem creating/editing content on your Sitefinity website.

Radoslav, thanks for replying. This is great to know!

If I can pose another requirement from a more technical side this time:

Our school uses Datatel as its ERP system provider. Do you currently have any clients that have integrated Sitefinity with Datatel?

We currently use Datatel's ActiveAdmissions product for our Admissions website and accepting online applications. ActiveAdmissions allows for prospective students's self-personalization, interest-based targeted messaging, and the management of the application process.

Datatel's Portal is another product which we will need to consider in the very near future for our current constituencies.

So, one of our technical requirements for choosing a CMS platform is how feasible it would be to leverage it to replace current solutions as well as deliver the potential future functionality.

Hi gregory hernandez,

Thank you for getting back to me.

Unfortunately I am not aware if any of our clients has integrated Sitefinity with the Datatel ActiveAdmissions product. Is this product based on ASP.NET, and does it expose an API for achieving what you want, also do they have a set of pre-built .NET controls which can be plugged in your site? If the product has a .NET API you would then be able to use this API to wrap the ActiveAdmissions' functionality in a Sitefinity module.

Best wishes,
