Hello,
I just want to know how Sitefinity 4 will handle a 5-6 years of documents... will it be possible to use partitioned table for improving data search?
Thanks
Paolo

Hi Paolo,

Could you explain some more about the functionality you are looking for?

Currently Sitefinity stores all data in the database , using a different table or database is equivalent to create a custom module. Search functionality will be available in the official release and the search will work with Lucene engine which uses the content data and does not store data in the database.

Hello Ivan,
what I mean is will the search be smart with an archive of 5-6 years of documents or will it became slow and with low responsiveness?
Thanks
Paolo

Hello Paolo,

The crawler will index files slower, but the response from it should not be an issue for the performance. Also the entire index can be triggered remotely or in the website background, so this should not affect your website visitors. Generally everything depends on how many files you will have and the size of the library. Of course the index will not be so fast if you have 10 000 files in a query and you compare it with 100.
