Upgrade 3.6 SP2 to 4.0 - Sitefinity - General Discussions

What would the recommended steps be to upgrade from 3.6SP2 to 4.0 since the migration tool is for 3.7 to 4.0?

Also - another question. We have about 40 3.7 websites to upgrade... is there an easier way to upgrade than the migration too? Thats a lot of steps to do for every site.
