Are content specific categories possible?

Hi There,

I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to create a set of categories that are specific to a particular content type. I'd like my content editors to be able to assign category(s) to news items but I don't want them to be able to have to look at a huge list of categories that don't apply and that should never be applied to a news item. Is this possible using the backend UI or via code?

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,
Phill

Hello Phill,

1. You can try to work with permissions - you can set permissions for your categories and tags. This will limit the categories that are not relevant for some users - For instance, you have users that enter "Sport News" and other users that enter "Science news"

2.Generally you could create a custom taxonomy and use custom fields to assign your custom taxonomy to your content items.

How do you go about setting permissions for individual categories?

Hello,

It turned out the permissions apply for all categories and currently we do not support permissions for a single  category. I will add this as a feature request for future implementation. The feature request ID is 106168
