Keeping Content on a page when changing a template

Hi

I'm still having difficulty in understanding how to keep the content on a page when changing a template behind it? There doesn't seem to be any offer of remapping the widgets to new contentplaceholders when changing, or any way to temporarily store the widgets being used to be dragged back on to the new template? Am I missing something? Is there no way to store a content widget once edited?

Hi There,

I agree with richard, mayble create a orphaned bucket from where controls can be dragged back to the page, or even maybe a mapping tool for specifying this.

Hi Jean,

This is not something easy if the IDs of the ContentPlaceHolders are not the same, because the control references are lost. You might find this post useful.
