Album sub-folders in image gallery

Are there plans to enable further organization of the image gallery by creating sub-folders within an album?  If not, could this be accomplished with a custom module?

Thank you for your question and interest. 
We do not have such plans for at least two more Qs. Custom module would be a solution, thus a big part of the current system can be re-used.
