Are Sitefinity 4.0 sites compatible with non-Silverlight vie

I need to create a website that is fully compatible whether the viewer has the Silverlight plug-in or not. Some of our viewers use older windows operating systems, Macs and smartphones. (The admin and other site editors will have Silverlight).

Can I do this with Sitefinity 4.0? If so, are there certain controls etc that I would have to avoid using?

Your public web site does not require Silverlight, unless you explicitly use Silverlight.  To prevent Silverlight from getting used, avoid using any of the RadControls for Silverlight or the video player that comes with Sitefinity.
